MALACANAN(\ MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO.6 2 6 DECLARING NOVEMBER 24' TO DECEMBER 23, 1995, AS "DEVELOPMENT PLANNING MONTH" IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF DEVELOPMENT PLANNING IN THE PHILIPPINES WHEREAS, the conscious effort to plan for economic development started during the Commonwealth Government of the Philippines in 1935: WHEREAS, development planning has become institutionalized with the sequential creation of agencies charged with overall planning and management of our economy, such as the National Economic Council (NEC) , the Presidential Economic Staff (PES), the Program Implementation Agency (PIA), and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA); WHEREAS, the various development planning bodies have helped chart the socio-economic progress of our country and, through the years, the Filipino people have greatly benefited from the integrated development planning activities carried out by these governmet agencies with the support of h'-le private sector, non- government organizations and people's organizations. NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS. President of the Republic of the Philippines. by virtue of the powers vested in me by law. do hereby proclaim November 24 to December 23. 1995 as the "Development Planning Month" in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of Development Planning in the Philippines. This occasion will bear the theme: "Tulong-tulong sa Pagpaplano. Tuloy-tuloy sa Progresoo" For this purpose, I call upon the Secretary of Socio-Economic Planning and Director-qeneral of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to take the lead in the festivities and programs. I also call upon all Heads of NEDA Board agencies. government financial institutions. government-owned and -controlled corporations. local government units and other instrumentalities of government. the members of mass media. cultural and civic institutions. and non-government organizations to actively participate in and suPIJOrt the celebration of Development Planning Month in the Philippir..es.
