PROCLAMATION NO. 671

DECLARING THE SECOND WEEK OF DECEMBER EVERY YEAR AS "THE EtLIPINO SEAMEN'S WEEK"

WHEREAS, through the centuries, the Filipino seamen have earned a name and reputation for themselves as outstanding sailors and navigators in .all of the countries of the world they have served;

WHEREAS, ‘today, the Filipino. seaman is among the significant foreign currency earners of the country, contributing in great measure to national development;

WHEREAS, the important role being played by Filipino sailors - in the development of the country must be given due recognition, and the problems confronting them must likewise be afforded every opportunity to be addressed; .

NOW, THEREFORE, 1, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the second week of December of every year as "The Filipino Seamen's Week".

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
