M~, the Secretary of National Defense as Chainman of the Nattonal Disaster Coordinating Council recamlends the declaration of a state of plic calamity in the aforesaid muni- cipalities in Batangas and Zambales provinces in view of the fact tlt the two volcanoes, Taal and Mt. Pinatubo, may erupt as they are both restive and shONing highly abnormal behavior: and ' WHEREAS, the proposed declaJ;"ation of a state of public calamity will enable the govenInent to effect fast d~livery of services needed by the more than 7,000 evacuees who are nON in evacuation centers in five (5) municipalities in Batangas and two (2) municipalities in Zambales and also help local govenInent units/disaster coordinating councils concerned and agencies involvedin energency preparation for the eruption of the volcanoes. .. NO;;'l, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUIOO, President of the Philip- pins, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare that a state of public calamity exists in the municipalities of the provinces here\mder indicated: Province Municipality BA.TAr.x;AS -Agoncillo San Nicolas Talisay Laurel .Balete Mataas Na Kahoy ZAMBALES -Botolan San Marcelino All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to lement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives , .- ,,?/ and orders issued in connection with calami ties.
