;tI/: /1/ I L () MALACANAMANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 717 DECLARING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 1996 AS THE MONTH OF DIETETICS AND NUTRITION IN THE PHILIPPINES WHEREAS, the Philippines, through its host the Nutritionist-Dietitians' Association of the Philippines, has been chosen as the venue for the XIIth International Congress of Dietetics which will open on February 18, 1996; WHEREAS, this will be the first time that such an international meeting will be held in Asia; WHEREAS, the Congress will provide a rare opportunity for dietitians and nutritionists from various countries to exchange ideas, experiences, and research data for the advancement of the field of dietetics and nutrition for the benefit of mankind; WHEREAS, the Congress will most certainly lead to the upgrading of the expertise of Filipino dietitians-nutritionists, provide the opportunity:for distinguished persons in the field of dietetics and nutrition to visit our country, savor Filipino hospitality, and thereby enhance the tourism drive of the Government; WHEREAS, there is need to insure the successful holding of the Congress, in which the honor, prestige and reputation of the entire country are at stake; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of February 1996 as the month of Dietetics and Nutrition in the Philippines.
