BY ‘THE PRESIDENT OF ‘THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 760

DECLARING MONDAY, JULY 22, 1991 A DAY OF BOUMENICAL PRAYER FOR NATIONAL UNITY AND A NON-WORKING DAY IN METRO MANILA

WHEREAS, the pranotion of the well-being of the people and the protection of their interests are among the highest goals of the Government;

WHEREAS, we are undergoing difficulties in attaining these goals in view of natural calamities and disasters which continue to affect the country;

WHEREAS, the extent of the devastation caused by the eruptions of Mt. Pinatubo has still to Il» quantified;

WHEREAS, the serious erotamic difficulties afflicting the Filipino people can be overcam if we once again achieve unity;

WHEREAS, amidst the serious econanic difficulties, aggravated by natural calamities and disasters, there is an acute need to unify

the people;

WHEREAS, the 5th Regular Session of Congress shall convene on July 22 under these circunstaners;

WHEREAS, this last Session of Congress during this Administration will be crucial in the history of our nation.

: NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINOD, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, July 22, 1991 as a Day of Ecumenical Prayer for National Unity and a non-working day in Metro Manila. However, the opening of Congress shall take place as scheduléd,

All are requested to chserye sametine during the day, in the campany of their loved ones, in their churches and in their hares, moments of prayer for peace, for the orderly conduct of rallies of those airing their grievances in the streets, for continuing strength in the midst of adversity and for the alleviationof the plight of those who have suffered due to the Mt. Pinatubo eruptions.

IN WLINESS WHEREDF, 7 have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
