MALACANANG MANILA jltF IJ .:l2,2q BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 781 AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 655 DATED 19 SEPTEMBER 1995 BY EXPANDING THE 'SEARCH FOR EXCELLENCE IN COMPUTER SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT" TO INCLUDE OTHER CATEGORIES OF IT PRODUCTS WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 655, series of 1995, declares 1996 as the Philippine Information Technology Year and directs the holding of an annual search for excellence in computer software development; WHEREAS, there is a need to expand the coverage of the competitions to other categories of Information Technology (IT) products and, thus, elicit greater participation from the IT community; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 655, by expanding the scope of the annual search for excellence in computer software development to include other categories of IT products. Corollary hereto, I hereby order: SECTION 1. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), as the implementing agency of the competition, shall award to the grand prize winner the "Presidential Award for Product Excellence in Information Technology"; SEC. 2. The holding of the competition shall be made at least once a year. Additional competitions may be held upon recommendation of the DOST, with the approval of the National Information Technology Council. SEC. 3. This Order takes effect immediately.
