Rp2 1-1 BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 791 DECLARING SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 1996 AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE CITY OF LAPU-LAPU, ISLAND OF MACTAN, PROVINCE OF CEBU WHEREAS, on April 21, 1521, despite the superior strength of the Spanish colonizers under the command of Ferdinand Magellan, Lapu-Lapu led his men and defeated them at Mactan in the first recorded struggle of Filipinos against foreign InVaSIOn; WHEREAS, in order to preserve and enhance the city's glorious history and its historical importance to the nation as a whole, it is fitting that the people of Lapu-Lapu City be given the opport'Jnity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies; .WHEREAS, the .City's Charter Anni,versary on April 27, ,(99(;)is a fitting occaSIon for such celebratIons; r:;?Y/ 1;") NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V.
