BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 857

DECLARING FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 2005, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA

WHEREAS, every year the City of Manila celebrates June 24 as "Araw ng Maynila” in commemoration of the founding of the City as the premier Christian City of Asia;

WHEREAS, Friday, June 24, 2005, marks the 434" Foundation Day anniversary of the City of Manila;

WHEREAS, the residents of Manila, conscious of the: historical and cultural significance of the event, desire to celebrate the same with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Friday, June 24, 2005, as special (non-working) day in the City of. Manila.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
