BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. M3

DECLARING THE PERIOD ROM FEBRUARY 16 TO 22, !992, AS NATIONAL AS'TRONOMY WEEK

WHEREAS, the universal appeal of Astronomy encompasses all fields cf human interest and endeavor;

WHEREAS, Astronomy serves as our window to tte beauty and wonders of the Universe and enables us to appreci, te the uniqueness and fragility of our home planet Earth;

WHEREAS, in the study of Astronomy, our people especially the youth, would gain a better understanding of their only planet, and thereby encourage them to participate move actively in the conservation and preservation of their environivent;

WHEREAS, it is fitting that public attention be fo tused en the significant contribution of astronomy in the advance- ment of science;

NOW, THEREFORE, 1, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, deo hereby declare the period from February 16 to 22, 1992, as NATIONAL ASTRONOMY WEEK under the auspices of the Philippine Astronomical Society, Inc.

I call wpon all of our citizens to join in the appropriate activities during this week, and in recognizing the importance of the study of Astronomy, not only to the scientific community but also to the public at large.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
