• MALACANANG Manila . BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 877 DECLARING EVERY LAST WEEK OF FEBRUARY YEARLY AS ROTARY INTERNATIONAL WEEK WHEREAS, the Rotary Club International celebrated its 100th Year of Foundation and civic work last February 20 -26, 2005; WHEREAS, in celebration of the said event, Rotary Districts throughout the country held various activities participated by Rotarians allover the country who are prominent business, professional and government leaders in the Philippines to commemorate Rotary's contribution to the world; WHEREAS, this important event afforded an opportunity for Rotarians to renew their commitment to service and to plan and discuss future projects in close cooperation with government and non-government organizations that will greatly contribute to national growth and development; WHEREAS, it is desirable to set aside a period to accord special attention to the various programs and projects of the Rotary Club. The Rotary International Week is but a fitting tribute to the Rotary Club's commitment to uplift the lives of the poor and disabled, to help children through the distribution of polio vaccines benefitting over two million children around the world, to provide quality healthcare services, to maintain peace and order amongst our communities, to preserve our environment and achieve ecological balance, not to mention its dedication to beautification and greening projects of our communities; WHEREAS, in vital recognition of the programs and projects of the Rotary Club, there is an urgent need to declare every last week of February yearly as Rotary International Week in commemoration of the Rotary Club's contribution to nation building; ~~!!I!IIj'7 2/ - NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare every last week of February, yearly, as Rotary International Week.
