BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 902

DECLARING TUESDAY, JULY 7, 1992 AS A SPECIAL: DAY THROUGHOUT THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, on July 7, 1892, Andres Bonifacio founded the Katipunan in the house of Diodato Arellano in Manila;

WHEREAS, -the founding of the Katipunan marked the begin- nings of the Philippine Revolution;

WHEREAS, it is fitting that recognition be given to the sacrifices of our forebears who willingly gave up their lives, liberty, and property in order that succeeding generations May be free;

WHEREAS, the ideals of the Katipunan have been a lasting inspiration in building the Filipino nation;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by.virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Tuesday, July 7, 1992 as a special day through- out the Philippines. .

I call upon all our citizens to join in the appropriate, activities on this day in recognizing the historic role of the Katipunan in nation-building over the last one hundred years..
