DECLARING MAY 16-22, 1987, AS "NATIONAL ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK".

WHEREAS, telecommunications plays a vital role in the development. and growth of the nation's economy, thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic and political development of the country;

WHEREAS, there is a need to solidify the gains realized under a truly democratic society throurh effective and effi- . cient means of processing, and transferring; information to the greatest ‘number of our people; and ‘

WHEREAS, there is also a need to focus public attention to the significant role of telecomnunications in the national

development program of the New Government;

NOW, SHEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from May 16-22, 1987, as "National Electronics and Telecommunications Week". ,

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hands and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
