MALACANANG.. Manila BY THE eRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 956 DECLARING DECEMBER 1, 2005 TO NOVEMBER 30, 2006 AS THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES COLLEGE OF MEDICINE CENTENNIAL YEAR. WHEREAS, the University of the Philippines College of Medicine (UPCM) is recognized as the country's premier medical school; WHEREAS, the UPCM has made significant contributions to medica! sc.ience and. health of the nation since it was founded on December 1, 1905; WHEREAS, in 2005, the UCPM celebrates its one hundred years of existence; WHEREAS, in order to enhance awareness of its contributions to national health development, and its leadership and achievements in medical education and halth research, it is fitting that the occasion is marked and commemorated by appropriate activities and festivities throughout the nation and in other venues, here and abroad, where UPCM publics are present. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by la"l, do hereby declare December 1, 2005 to November 30, 2006 as the University of the Philippines College of Medicine Centennial Year.
