AN ACT POSTPONING THE SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN ELECTIONS TO THE LAST MONDAY OF OCTOBER 2016, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9164, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "AN ACT PROVIDING FOR SYNCHRONIZED BARANGAY AND SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN ELECTIONS, AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7160, AS AMENDED, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE ‘LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE OF 1991’, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Section 1 of Republic Act No. 9164, as amended, by Republic Act No. 9340 and Republic Act No. 10632, is hereby further amended to read as follows:

"SECTION 1. Date of Election. – There shall be synchronized barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections which shall be held on July 15, 2002. Subsequent synchronized barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections shall be held on the last Monday of October 2007 and every three (3) years thereafter:

Provided, That the sangguniang kabataan elections on October 28, 2013 shall be postponed to the last Monday of October 2016."

Section 2. The Commission on Elections and the Department of the Interior and Local Government shall promulgate such rules and regulations necessary to implement this Act within thirty (30) days after its effectivity.

Section 3. All laws, decrees, executive orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

Section 4. This Act shall take effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was passed by the House of Representatives on December 1, 2014, amended by the Senate on February 2, 2015, and which amendment was concurred in by the House of Representatives on February 9, 2015.
