RA 10689 - An Act Declaring August 9 as National Indigenous Peoples Day and Mandating the Meaningful Observance Thereof
Republic Act No. 10689
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:
Section 1
It is hereby declared a policy of the government to advance the rights and collective well-being of indigenous peoples through the annual observance of the National Indigenous Peoples Day in the Philippines.
Section 2
The National Indigenous Peoples Day in the Philippines shall be observed on August 9 of each year and is hereby declared a special working holiday.
Section 3
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples shall promulgate the rules and regulations for the meaningful observance of the National Indigenous Peoples Day.
Section 4
This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
