RA 11198 - An Act Providing for the Reapportionment of the Province of Southern Leyte Into Two (2) Legislative Districts

Republic Act No. 11198

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:

Section 1. Legislative Districts

On the next national and local elections after the effectivity of this Act, the Province of Southern Leyte is hereby reappointed into two (2) legislative districts, as follows:

(a) First Legislative District. - The First Legislative District shall be composed of the City of Maasin and the municipalities of Macrohon, Padre Burgos, Limasawa, Malitbog, Tomas Oppus and Bontoc; and

(b) Second Legislative District. - The Second Legislative District shall be composed of the municipalities of Sogod, Libagon. Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, Saint Bernard, Anahawan, San Juan, Hinundayan, Hinunangan and Silago.

Section 2. Holdover

The incumbent Representative of the Lone Legislative District of the Province of Southern Leyte shall continue to represent the legislative district until the new representatives of the First and Second Legislative Districts shall have been duly elected and qualified.

Section 3. Implementing Rules and Regulations

The Commission on Elections shall issue the necessary rules and regulations to implement this Act within thirty (30) days after its effectivity.

Section 4. Repealing Clause

All laws, rules and regulations which are inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed, or modified accordingly.

Section 5. Effectivity

This act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was passed by the House of Representatives on September 20, 2017, amended by the Senate on September 3, 2018, and which amendments were concurred in by the House of Representatives on December 3, 2018.
