RA 11304 - An Act Declaring February Four of Every Year as the “Philippine-American War Memorial Day”

Republic Act No. 11304

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress assembled:

Section 1

February 4 of every year is hereby declared a special working holiday in commemoration of the sacrifice and bravery of the men and women who fought and died in defense of the Filipino nation during the Philippine-American war.

Section 2

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) shall ensure that appropriate activities are held in schools at all levels to commemorate the Philippine-American War Memorial Day.

Section 3

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) shall be responsible for providing the DepEd, CHED, and the general public with the necessary information to ensure a meaningful commemoration of the Philippine-American War Memorial Day.

Section 4

Funds necessary for the implementation of this Act shall be drawn from the yearly appropriations of the agencies concerned.

Section 5

Within ninety (90) days from the approval of this Act, the NHCP shall, in consultation with the DepEd and CHED, formulate the rules and regulations implementing the provisions of this Act.

Section 6

This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
