Republic Act No. 1551

Section 1

Hereafter, all employees whose salaries are paid out of the general funds of the municipality shall, subject to the civil service law, be appointed by the Municipal Mayor upon the recommendation of the corresponding chief of office: Provided, That in case of disagreement between the chief of office concerned and the municipal mayor, the matter shall be submitted for action to the proper provincial department head whose decision shall be final: Provided, further, That the chief of police and members of the police force of the municipality shall be appointed by the mayor with the consent of the municipal council.

Section 2

This Act shall hereafter be known as section twenty-one hundred ninety-nine of the Administrative Code, thereby repealing in his entirety the provisions thereof and of section twenty-two hundred of the Administrative Code, and all Acts, executive and/or administrative orders, department rules and regulations, or parts thereof inconsistent with the provision of this Act are hereby repealed: Provided, however, That this section shall not apply to the employment of laborers engaged for the performance of authorized work.

Section 3

This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
