Republic Act No. 631

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1

The barrios of Magallon, Odiong and Guinpanaan are hereby separated from the Municipality of Isabela and constituted into a new municipality, to be known as the Municipality of Magallon, Province of Negros Occidental, with the seat of government in the present site of the poblacion of Magallon.

Section 2

The boundary line between the Municipality of Magallon and the Municipality of Isabela shall be as surveyed by the Bureau of Lands in accordance with Resolution No. 1 of the joint session of the Provincial Board of Negros Occidental and the Municipal Council of Isabela dated November 15, 1949, and subsequently concurred to by Resolution No. 79 of the Municipal Council of Isabela dated December 26, 1949.

Section 3

The first municipal mayor, vice-mayor and councilors of the newly created municipality shall be appointed by the President of the Philippines and shall hold office until their successors shall have been elected and shall have qualified.

Section 4

This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
