AN ACT DECLARING THE SITE OF BIAK-NA-BATO IN THE PROVINCE OF BULACAN A HISTORICAL SHRINE AND TOURIST SPOT, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. The site of Biak-na-Bato in the Province of Bulacan is hereby declared a historical shrine and tourist spot, and shall be accorded priority development by the Department of Tourism.

Section 2. The Philippine Tourism Authority, in consultation with the Department of Public Works and Highways and the National Historical Institute shall prepare a tourism development plan for Biak-na-Bato. The development plan shall provide for the construction and installation of such appropriate facilities and infrastructure as shall encourage tourism in the area and shall be submitted for final approval to the Department of Tourism prior to its implementation.

Section 3. Upon approval by the Department of Tourism of the tourism development plan for Biak-na-Bato, it shall take immediate steps to expedite the implementation thereof and for this purpose shall incorporate the same in the department's overall tourism development programs for the ensuing calendar year.

Section 4. The amount necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act shall be included in the General Appropriations Act of the year following its enactment into law and thereafter.

Section 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was finally passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on February 6, 1998 and February 5, 1998, respectively.
